Applications During melting, it is essential to form basic slag by neutralizing the formation of acidic oxides, in particular silica and alumina, reaching an optimal basicity index (B.I.). Neutralizing of acidic formations and the production of a performing chemical slag allowing to obtain correct mass balance, necessary to safeguard the furnace/converter.

was designed to optimize the ratio between
solubilization and reactivity.
Applications Because of the growing demand for high-grade steel products, there is a demand for lower levels of impurities (such as phosphorus and sulphur) in the steel-making process. Lime injection in the BOF converter helps to achieve such stringent requirements. This helps to improve dephosphorization, leading to a significant positive impact on steel cleanliness productivity, as well as lower costs.

Applications To achieve stainless steel melting and refining in an AOD, the entire process requires extremely tight controls. These controls cover selecting the raw materials through to refining and casting. A typical EAF practice would be to melt down under a basic reducing slag. The AOD slag plays an important role, from decarburization to lowering sulphur levels and reducing expensive oxides back into the metal.
Solutions How can lime consumption and alloy recovery in the stainless steel melting (AOD process) be improved?
Solutions Desulfast is an excellent product used in Vacuum Oxygen Degassing to balance slag chemistry and help in the formation of synthetic slag.
Applications The Lime Injection System consists in loading EAF with powdered materials with appropriate lances able to inject lime and dolomite pneumatically directly into the slag. This method makes it possible to increase the flow of materials maximising the yield and improve foaming thanks to a calibrated injection during the melting and the superheating phase.
Solutions For the Lime Injection technique, Unicalce has developed specific products for pneumatic transport. These products have been developed with a suitable grinding mill, which ensures the grain-size distribution curve without any danger of material clogging.
